One of the my favorite places to start is right next to where I grew up, and that is the Johnson creek boulevard trailhead. It goes all the way to Gresham’s main city park.

It is a popular route for cyclists, walks, runs, and offers views of the Willamette River and countryside. Along the way, there are several hidden gems to discover, including parks, wildlife areas, and historic sites.
Great places to start for views of the waterfront include near OMSI at the Eastbank Eslpanade, and take a relaxing bike ride down towards Oaks Bottom, another great place on our list. Because of that, new rose varieties are being created every years as a part of the Rose Garden’s strategic planning to keep the rose population booming. There are650 varieties, making it one of the largest and oldest rose gardens in the world. There are entire rose societies that are project partners with the International Rose Test Garden that gather during peak bloom season on sunny weekends in the Summer. The garden is a popular for visitors looking to take a peaceful break from the stresses of daily life. There is even a section of the garden called the Shakespeare garden where roses bloom.
